5 Of London’s Best: Rooftop Bars

One comment

Few things are more enticing to Londoners than an afternoon spent drinking in the pub. One such thing, however, is an afternoon spent drinking on a rooftop. In advance of the Bank Holiday weekend, we’re recommending our 5 favourite spots.

1. Southbank Centre Roof Garden

Where? Southbank (SE1 8XX)

Why? This roof garden boasts over 150 species of native wildflowers and the opportunity to picnic alongside Southbank’s tote-bag-wearing, coffee-drinking trendies. More here.

2. The Culpeper Roof Garden

Where? Aldgate East, E1 6LP

Why? Named after Nicholas Culpeper, an Aldgate-based 17th-century herbalist, the Culpeper promises great views and their signature Lemon-Thyme Ambrosia: brandy, calvados, and prosecco. More here.

3. Sushisamba

Where? Bishopsgate, EC2N

Why? Situated near the top of the Heron Tower, Sushisamba offers an impressive circular bar, memorable cocktails and views for miles. More here.

4. Queen of Hoxton

Where? Hoxton, EC2A 3JX

Why? The roof of the Queen of Hoxton is open all year round, serving food and killer cocktails. In the summer months they host rooftop film events too. Recommended. More here.

5. Kensington Roof Gardens

Where? Kensington, W8 5SA

Why? At 75 years old, this is the grandfather of London’s rooftop drinking holes. It might have sold out to Virgin and charge some hefty premiums, but it does have four resident pink flamingos. Can’t argue with that. More here.
